What is HDTV?

High-Definition television (HDTV) is a digital broadcast of television programming with exceptionally crystal-clear audio and video quality. HDTV offers significant higher resolution for a sharper picture with vibrant colors and 16:9 wide screen presentation. With the same Dolby Digital Surround Sound used in most movie theatres, HDTV sound is an extraordinary home entertainment experience!

Do I need a new TV or any other equipment to receive HDTV?

HDTV is not compatible with most current TV sets—it is only compatible with new TV sets specifically designed for HD (HD-ready). A special HD - digital set top box (STB) is required for HD reception. STB's are available from your local cable or satellite service provider. HDTV sets can also display standard TV and will display the output of DVD players. The digital audio output of the STB may also be connected to a home theater surround sound system.
